Oluwa Chieftaincy Family in Lagos appoints Madam Iyabo Alake head

Madam Iyabo Alake Odedairo (nee Oluwa) of Idewu Ruling House has been appointed the ‘Olori Ebi’ of the family. The appointment was made in a meeting organized by Ganiyu Durojaiye, a prominent member of the Asalu Ruling House and son of late Salisu Akanbi Durojaiye, a former Secretary of Oluwa Chieftaincy Family of Lagos and Apapa, after deliberating on the vacuum created by the death of the immediate Chief Oluwa of Lagos Apapa, Mukaila Kolawole Oluwa.
In its statement after the strategic meeting, attended by four out of the five  houses that constitute the family, the family condemned the activities of one of it’s members, Asiwaju Rabiu Adio Oluwa, whom it explained has been parading himself as ‘Olori Ebi’ of the family and used his self-acclaimed position to take control of the family offices, money and other assets.
Recalling their age-long tradition on filling leadership vacuum created by death of any Chief Oluwa and management of family assets pending the appointment of a new Chief Oluwa, the family noted that the rule had always been that the eldest family member amongst the five heads of the Ruling houses becomes the Olori Ebi, except he or she is so sick that he cannot handle the posution, in which case, the family appoints another elder as their ‘Olori Ebi’.
It was on this historic note that the family on April 9, presented three eldest members: Samsideen Okanlawon Oluwa (92), Modina Ashake Arinola Ibrahim Oluwa (89) and Madam Iyabo Alake Odedairo (nee Oluwa) ( 87) for consideration which produced Madam Iyabo Alake Odedairo (nee Oluwa) of Idewu Ruling House emerged as the ‘OLORI EBI’ of the Oluwa Chieftaincy Family of Lagos and Apapa.
The family rulled out the possibilty of anyone altaring the arrangement, which was said to be aimed at ensuring accountability, smooth trasition of leadership and peace in their enviable family.
