Argentine captain Lionel Messi has said he knew he would win the world cup.

Telescope.ng reports that while speaking after inspiring Argentina to win the first World Cup trophy in 36 years on Sunday, December 18, Messi said: “I knew that God was going to give it to me, I had a feeling that this was mine.

“We can’t wait to be in Argentina to see how crazy the celebrations is going to be.”

“This was the trophy I wanted all my life. This was my dream from childhood.”

“It’s the best thing there is [World Cup trophy]. Look how cute it is.”

“I’m not retiring from the National Team. I want to continue playing as a champion.”

Messi scored two goals in a thrilling 3-3 final match with France. He converted the first kick during a penalty shoot-out, which the team won 4-2.
